PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL FOR AVAILABILITY BEFORE BOOKING AND PAYING FOR YOUR ACCOMMODATION FEES.
Rose of York provides accommodation with a Host Family. Students can choose between Homestay (room with half-board) or Private Home (room with breakfast).

Living as a member of the household also means that students have more opportunities to practise English outside the school.
We inspect and choose our families very carefully, who all have to:
- encourage students to feel at home and treating them as a member of the family
- encourage students to speak English as much as possible
- provide a clean and comfortable room
- provide a suitable environment for studying
- provide students with a balanced and appropriate diet
At Rose of York we do not place students of the same nationality in the same homestay (unless requested).
Homestay categories & prices
According to the public transport system, London is divided into zones. Most of the families live in the residential areas, mainly in travel zones 3 and 4, which means that students have to travel 45-60 minutes to school. A few families live closer, in zone 2 or zone 1 (city centre).

Students should remember that they will be living in a family home and should comply with the 'Rules of the House'. A common rule with the families is that students cannot use the kitchen to cook, but they can usually prepare tea, coffee or sandwiches.
Conditions of Rose of York's Accommodation search
1. Payment. Once we receive the full payment from the student, we can confirm the booking and send a letter to the student with all the details of the host family. Please note that there is a £35 administration charge.
2. Once the accommodation has been booked and the confirmation letter has been sent, the first week of accommodation and the searching fee are non-refundable.
3. Arrival date. Accommodation is booked for a given date, but sometimes the student cannot arrive on that same day. We require a minimum of 10 days notice from the student so that we can contact the family and let them know that the student cannot arrive on time. If the student arrives one or two days earlier or later, the family might be able to accommodate them.
4. Postponing your arrival date. We understand that visa applications are getting more difficult every day. Sometimes students have trouble getting their visas and need to postpone their course and accommodation until their visa is granted. We consider up to 10 days notice before the arrival date is fair to both the family and the student. Any notice given within 10 days before the arrival date will mean we have to pay the family one week compensation. We may still be able to postpone the booking, depending on the availability of the family. If the family does not have a room available at a later date, we can book accommodation with another family. Please note that in this case the duration of the new accommodation will be one week shorter, as we have to pay one week to the family that was booked on the first place.
5. Cancelling your booking. In case students cancel their accommodation booking, for whatever reason, we require 10 days notice. We will refund all the fees paid except for one week. In case the student has only paid one week, we will not be able to refund any money.
6. Student's complaints. When a student requests to be moved to a different host family, we would require the student to give at least one week notice. In some specific cases, we might be able to transfer the students immediately.
7. Students are reminded that most host families live in residential areas, therefore they must be prepared to travel between 40 to 60 minutes by bus or underground. |
